Yes, you can self manage your domain name with Rocketspark, this is handy if you have a 3rd party IT company looking after your domain names and emails, for more information on this continue reading:
What does self-managing mean?Self-managing your domain simply means you or your current domain provider will look after your domain renewal and settings. You can have a website with Rocketspark and look after your own domain by simply pointing to the website and optionally the email traffic to Rocketspark. Alternatively, you can transfer your domain to Rocketspark and we will renew and manage the settings for you. Or register a new domain for your Rocketspark website.
Yes, you can – this is usually a preferred approach for the following reasons.
Can I self-manage my own domain?
- You’d like to keep your current email provider rather than switch over to Rocketspark.
- You’re technically proficient and you’d like to keep managing this yourself.
- You’d like to pay for and keep your domain with your current third-party provider.
Upgraded your account yet?If you are reading this guide, you have most likely already upgraded your account. If you have, great!
Hop down to the next step. If you haven’t, please continue reading.
If you've already upgraded and have your primary domain setup, scroll down to the Adding Extra Domains heading below.
Next Step, What DNS settings do I use?If you’re still wanting to manage your own domain (and have read the above), you’ll need to make sure you follow one of the below support guides. Be mindful to select the correct country so that you have the right settings.
If you’re not sure, where you are hosted, follow these steps to double-check and then click the correct DNS settings guide for your hosted location.
- Login to your website's Dashboard.
- Click into the My Account section on the left.
- Scroll down and your Website hosting location is labelled on this page.
How do I do this myself? Each domain provider does this a little differently. You will need one of the above guides (DNS Settings) as these are the settings that you will need to change on your domain. You can either change these settings yourself (if you feel confident technically) or you can give these settings to your domain provider to set these up for you. Just contact the support team at your domain provider for assistance.
