In this help guide, we will show you how to edit an existing form, you may want to add or remove different fields; you can do this in your 'My Forms' section in your Dashboard:
- Log in to your Rocketspark Dashboard. If you are unsure of how to do this then follow our login guide here.
- Click on the forms link to the left of your Dashboard on the home screen.
- You will be presented with the Forms screen, in which you can create a new form or edit pre-existing forms. To edit a form, click on the pencil icon to the left of the form you want to edit.
- This will bring up the form builder screen in which you can add different fields for users to fill in. To edit existing sections of your form, click on the edit pencil to the left of the section you want to change.
- This will bring up the form field section in which you can change the name of a field as well as change the field type. To change the field type, simply click on the drop-down menu and change to your desired input.
- Once you are done making changes to your form, click on the blue "Save Form" button. This will update all of that specific form you have set out on your website.
FAQ
Can I add a brand new field to my form, not just edit an existing one?
Yes. In the form builder, look for the option to add a new section alongside the pencil icons for existing ones. This guide covers editing fields that already exist, adding new ones follows a similar process.
Will editing a form field change entries customers have already submitted?
No. Changing a field's name or type only affects new submissions from that point on. Past form entries in your inbox stay as they were submitted.
What happens if I change a field type after customers have already filled it in?
New submissions will use the new field type, for example a dropdown instead of a text box. Older submissions keep whatever answer was given under the original field type.
Do I need to click "Save Form" after every single change, or just once at the end?
Just once at the end. You can make several changes, add or edit multiple fields, then click the blue "Save Form" button to update everything at once.
Why don't I see my changes on the live website after saving?
Try refreshing the page in a new tab or clearing your browser cache. If the changes still aren't showing, get in touch with us at support@rocketspark.com.
Can I remove a field completely instead of just changing it?
This guide covers editing existing fields (renaming and changing type). If you're looking to delete a field entirely, check for a delete or bin icon near the field, or contact us if you can't find one.
