Personal bests track the best monthly performance your website has ever achieved for each key metric. Think of them like your website's personal records. Every time your website has its best-ever month for traffic, calls, forms, or sales, that gets recorded as a personal best.
It is a simple way to see your progress over time and celebrate the wins along the way. Even small improvements deserve a high five!
Why personal bests matter Running a website can sometimes feel like shouting into the void. Personal bests give you concrete proof that your hard work is paying off. They help you see the growth that might otherwise go unnoticed. |
What metrics are tracked?
Personal bests are tracked across four key metrics:
| Metric | Your personal best tracks... |
| Website traffic | Your highest number of sessions (visits) in a single month - the total amount achieved in that month. |
| Mobile calls | Your highest number of phone calls from your website in a single month - the total amount achieved in that month. |
| Form submissions | Your highest number of form submissions received in a single month - the total amount achieved in that month. |
| Online sales | Your highest total revenue from online orders in a single month - the total amount achieved in that month. |
Personal bests are calculated from the time your website launched (if you have analytics connected, an active form, a number added to the site and an online store), so your entire history is included.
Where you will see personal bests
In your monthly performance report
Your monthly report email highlights any personal bests you achieved during the previous month. When you hit a new record, you will see a celebratory message alongside the metric, letting you know it was your best month ever for that area.
Personal bests appear in all customer reports, regardless of your plan.
On the dashboard graph
On your Rocketspark dashboard, personal bests show up as dots at the end of months where you set a new record. Here is how to read them:
- A single dot at the end of a month means you set one personal best that month.
- If you set multiple personal bests in the same month (for example, best-ever calls and forms), the dot will show a number inside it (like "2" or "3").
- Hover over the dot to see which specific metrics hit personal bests that month.
- Historic personal bests that have since been beaten appear as faded light grey dots.
Recommended graph view We recommend changing the timeframe of your graph to either 3m, 6m or 1y and then within the more settings, choose to view the data by a "monthly" view instead of weekly or daily. |
How personal bests work
Personal bests are based on monthly data. At the end of each month, we compare your results against your previous best for each metric. If you have beaten your previous record, it gets flagged as a new personal best.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Personal bests are calculated since your website was first launched, so even early months count.
- If you hit personal bests across multiple metrics in the same month, they are combined into a single dot on the graph (with a number showing how many).
- Personal bests are recalculated each month, so your records are always up to date.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to do anything to enable personal bests?
Nope! Personal bests are tracked automatically for all Rocketspark websites. You do not need to turn anything on. They will just appear in your monthly report and (on Pro plans) on your dashboard graph.
Can I see my all-time personal bests?
Yes. On the dashboard graph, all your personal best months are shown as dots. Current records appear as dark blue dots, while historic bests that have been beaten appear as faded grey dots. Hovering over any dot shows you the details.
What if I have just launched my website?
No worries! Personal bests start tracking from day one. After your first full month, that month automatically becomes your personal best for each metric. From there, every time you beat it, you will see a new personal best.
Are personal bests the same as benchmarking?
They are related but different! Benchmarking compares your website to other businesses in your industry. Personal bests compare your website to its own history. Benchmarking tells you how you stack up against others, while personal bests celebrate your own progress over time.
