You can transfer ownership of a website to a new person using the Change website owner button inside Design Studio. This makes sure the right client has access while keeping everything secure.
How to change a website owner
Log in to your design studio
Click the cog icon for your client's website
- In the dropdown, click "Site settings"
Click “Change website owner” for the email address field
Type in the client’s email you want to transfer ownership to and change the first/last name for the new owner.
- Click "Change owner"
What happens next?
The process works in two different ways, depending on the new owner’s email:
Flow one: instant handover
Ownership changes straight away if:
The current owner (current email address) has never logged in, and
The new owner’s email isn’t already a Rocketspark user
Flow two: approval required
If either of the below applies:
The current owner has logged in, or
The new owner’s email already exists in Rocketspark
If approval is required
After completing step 6 above, click "Send email invite"
An email will be sent to the new owner of the website, who needs to accept it within five days.
- The new owner will receive an email that looks like the one below to accept the ownership invite
- Please ask your client to check all possible inboxes ("All mail", "spam", etc) if the email can not be found.

- Once the new owner accepts the invitation, they can log straight into the new website!
- If the client has multiple websites with the same admin email, they can easily switch between sites at the top right of their account once logged in.
