What is a forwarding number, and why do you need it?
Think of your registered business number as a signpost for your website visitors. It’s a special number that appears on your site so customers can call you. But instead of being a separate phone you have to carry around, this number redirects calls straight to your existing phone number—that’s your forwarding number.
Your customers see: The unique business number on your website.
They dial that number: The call goes to our system first (no delays).
We instantly forward the call: It rings on your normal phone (mobile or landline).
You answer as usual: It’s just like any other call, with no extra devices needed.
You’ll hear a quick message: Something like “This call came from your website” before the caller is connected, so you know the lead came via your Rocketspark site.
How to set up a forwarding phone number:
Log in to your Rocketspark Dashboard
From the left-hand menu, select Phone Numbers to find your registered phone number in the table
If you have not yet set a forwarding number, click the edit pencil for Set forwarding number.

Enter the phone number you want to receive calls on.
Exclude your area code (e.g. for New Zealand numbers, exclude +64).
This can be your mobile or a landline where you or your team can answer during business hours.
Click the tick icon to save.
To update the forwarding number in the future, you can click the edit pencil next to the existing number to change this, repeating the steps above.
Important notes:
If you use an 0800 number as the forwarding number, there may be delays on the callers end - it is recommended to not use an 0800 number.
If you don’t set a forwarding number, callers won’t reach you. We’ll send you reminder emails until you set it up.
You can only set your forwarding number to a NZ number (+64) - please contact support if you would like an international forwarding number to capture this feature request.
You can change your forwarding number anytime without extra cost.
Customers only see your website business number, never the forwarding number, so your private number stays private.
