Blocking your visits to your site from Google Analytics is a great way to make sure you aren't accidentally altering your statistics. This help guide will show you how you can block visits from Google Analytics reports.
If you've installed Analytics tracking using the standard Rocketspark method of pasting in your GA4 code into the Google Tracking Code section we automatically exclude this when you are logged in. But this guide also covers blocking your visits on your live domain or while logged out.
Below are a couple of methods for blocking yourself from your Analytics reports.
Option 1: Block your IP
Every internet connection has an IP address (your location on the internet) assigned to it. This is assigned to you by your ISP (Spark, Telecom, Vodafone, etc..).
Your IP can change daily or every time there is a power cut, unless you are on a Static IP, which you can usually get from your ISP. You would only want to use the IP blocking method if you have a static IP address otherwise you'll find you'll need to constantly be updating it in Analytics.
To find out what your IP is, you can go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/.
Once you have your IP you can follow the Google Analytics guide here to exclude your IP from the reports. https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1034840?hl=en.
Option 2: Browser Block in Chrome
Potentially an easier way to block traffic is to ask everyone at your company to install this Chrome Browser plugin which blocks analytics from running in your browsers: Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
If you aren't using Chrome, you could make the switch or see if your preferred browser may have a similar extension.
