Sub-domains are typically used when the domain needs to point to a different website from the main domain. Sub-domains are something that you set up on an existing domain so you don't need to register them as such.
A sub-domain would look something along the lines of e.g business.yourdomain.com OR members.yourdomain.com. You can use any word that you would like before your domain name.
There are two parts to setting up a new sub-domain.
Creating the sub-domain in your domain name control settings to point to Rocketspark
Step 1: Creating the sub-domain
To do this you can contact your domain provider and they will be able to help you set up a sub-domain. If you host your domain name with Rocketspark you can ask our Support team to set this sub-domain up for you.
Once a subdomain has been created you need to know where to point it. This is done by adding one CNAME record to your main domain name.
If you are on our New Zealand Server use: (Please note you would replace the example hostname (members) with your own sub-domain)
Host | Type | Destination |
members | CNAME | nz.rocketspark.com |
If you are on our Australian Server use: (Please note you would replace the example hostname (members) with your own sub-domain)
Host | Type | Destination |
members | CNAME | au.rocketspark.com |
If you are on our United Kingdom Server use: (Please note you would replace the example hostname (members) with your own sub-domain)
Host | Type | Destination |
members | CNAME | uk.rocketspark.com |
If you are on our United States Server use: (Please note you would replace the example hostname (members) with your own sub-domain)
Host | Type | Destination |
members | CNAME | us.rocketspark.com |
Step 2: Assign the sub-domain to a website:
Let us know which website you would like your sub-domain to point at so we are able to add your sub-domain name to your site.
