Yes, you can rename the store categories, filters, and brand titles to match your website.
Out of the box, we call these CATEGORIES, FILTERS & BRAND.
- A Category is the main home that the product lives under. Each product can only be assigned to one category.
- Filters (TAGs) can be assigned to many products, and a product can have many tags assigned.
- Brands can be used to narrow results within a category, and each product can only have one brand.
To make the store more flexible to the specific product types, we allow you to rename these titles that appear on the main Store home.
For example, you may want to re-label BRAND to be COLOUR, as it is better for your customers to navigate your products by colour rather than brand.
How to rename Category, Filter and Brand titles
- Log in to your Rocketspark Dashboard.
- Go to your Dashboard -> Manage Store
- Once in the store settings, head to Store Preferences
- Scroll down the Preferences until you see the heading "Rename Category, Filter (buyer-facing name for tags), Brand"

FAQs
Q: Will renaming “Brand,” “Categories,” or “Filters” change the URLs or links for those sections in my store?
A: No — renaming the buyer-facing titles (such as “Brand,” “Categories,” “Filters”) only changes what the shopper sees. It doesn’t change any underlying URLs. The URL structure (e.g. how a category or brand filter is accessed) remains the same.
Q: If I rename “Brand” to something else (say “Colour”), can I still use the Brand functionality the same way?
A: Yes — the functionality remains exactly the same. You’ll just have a different label. So if you rename “Brand” to “Colour,” customers will see “Colour” instead of “Brand,” but your products’ assignment, filtering, etc. works just as before.
Q: Can I revert to the default titles later?
A: Absolutely. If you change your mind, just go back into Manage Store → Store Preferences → Rename Category, Filter (buyer-facing name for tags), Brand, clear out your custom label, and the system will go back to using the default names (“Categories,” “Filters,” “Brand”).
Q: Will renaming these titles affect my site’s SEO or visibility in search engines?
A: Very little to none. The labels are buyer-facing text, so they may affect what customers see and what text appears on the page, which might slightly influence user experience or click behaviour. But the URLs, meta data, and underlying structure don’t change just from renaming labels. If SEO is important for your categories/brands, it’s best to also use keywords in product titles, descriptions, etc.
Q: Where do I go to rename those titles in the Rocketspark Dashboard?
A: Go to your Rocketspark Dashboard → Manage Store → Store Preferences. Scroll down until you see the section labelled “Rename Category, Filter (buyer-facing name for tags), Brand”. Type in the new names you want, and they will be saved automatically. You’ll see the changes reflected immediately on your live store.
Q: Will renaming these labels impact mobile view or cause layout issues?
A: Typically, no — Rocketspark’s responsive design handles the text in those labels so they adapt on mobile. But very long custom titles might look awkward or wrap onto multiple lines. If you use a long label, check your store on a mobile device to make sure it looks clean.
