Yes, you can keep your existing email accounts (that are connected to your domain name) where they are currently hosted when you move your website over to Rocketspark and, in many cases, we actually recommend it. If, however, you would like to bring (“migrate”) these accounts over to us, then you can do so.
Should I move my email accounts or keep them where they are?
We recommend you keep your accounts on your old provider if you have three or more accounts. There are two major factors to consider: convenience and cost.
If you’re dealing with several email accounts, it might simply be more convenient to leave them where they are. We also charge a one-off fee for bringing an email account over to us, and since that fee is charged per account, the cost of migrating multiple email accounts could soon mount up. You’ll also want to factor into your calculations the ongoing cost of staying with your previous provider versus having those accounts with us.
To get the cost of migrating your emails over to Rocketspark, contact us for a quote or, alternatively, a price will be displayed during the upgrade process when you click Upgrade Now from your Dashboard.
We highly recommend leaving your emails where they are currently hosted if they are hosted Office 365 as we cannot offer the services these providers can offer alongside their email service.
I want to keep my email accounts on my previous domain. How?
If you want to keep your email accounts on your previous domain, then you’ll find everything you need to know in this support guide.
I want to bring my email accounts over to Rocketspark. How?
You first need to upgrade from a free trial. Find out more about the upgrade process here. (Already upgraded but want to change your email choices? Contact us).
During the upgrade process, you’ll be asked: "Are you wanting to move your email hosting to Rocketspark?” Click Yes.
Then you’ll be asked, “Would you like us to contact you about migrating your emails?” If you want your email history, click Yes. We will then get in touch about moving your email history from your old account to your new Rocketspark one. If you don't mind starting with a fresh email account, or have backed up the emails elsewhere (such as through Outlook or Apple Mail), click No.
Next, you’ll be asked to list the email addresses you want to have with Rocketspark. For each additional email address you want, click ADD and type in the address in the new field that appears. Once satisfied, click Next step: choose payment type and proceed to our payment page.
Setting up email on your computer/devices
To set up your Rocketspark email accounts so you can access it on your various devices, consult our email setup guide. This guide is written specifically to enable customers to easily set up their email without professional assistance. (Check out our email troubleshooting guide for further assistance.)
Please be aware that we do not provide IT support for configuring email on your computer or device (our prices would have to be considerably higher if we provided full support for email setup on individual devices). If you’re using the correct settings as detailed in the setup guide (and your Rocketspark webmail is working correctly), then any further email-related problems are probably particular to your device (e.g., anti-virus software; internet connectivity), in which case we recommend contacting your IT specialist.
