Scheduled ordering allows your customers to place an order now and receive it later. It's like giving your customers a little calendar for their cart!
As a store owner, you’ll set the rules—what days/times are available and how far in advance someone can book. Nice and simple.
Here are some ways Rocketspark shop owners are already using scheduled ordering:
💐 Florists scheduling delivery on birthdays, Valentine's or anniversaries
🎂 Bakers allowing their customers to order goods for an event such as birthdays
🍱 Meal prep businesses letting customers book next week’s meals
🎉 Event organisers offering pick-up slots for party orders
Setting it up in your Rocketspark Dashboard
Log in to your Dashboard
-
Go to "Manage store"
-
Go to Scheduled Ordering
-
If you have not already - tick to Enable Scheduled Ordering
- Please note this feature is only available to Ecomerce Grow and Ecomerce Pro users; you will need to upgrade to one of these plans if you have not already.
Set your preferences for pickup and/or delivery:
-
Minimum notice period (e.g. 24 hours in advance for customers to schedule an order)
-
Choose if you want to limit the number of orders received per 30 min time slots.
-
Choose how many days ahead customers can schedule their order (allow months in advance - all the way up to a year in advance).
-
Re-configure your pickup address (if applicable) and delivery zones and rates - this will take you to the shipping section of your dashboard.
-
Choose the days of the week customers can order for. You can choose date and time or date only to display for your customers.
-
Uncheck the toggle "use same schedule for pickup and delivery" if you want to separate the weekly schedules to match how your business runs best. Further adjust the date/times for both delivery and pickup schedules.
💡 Top tip: Make sure your opening hours and delivery settings are aligned with your scheduled ordering options.
- You can exclude specific dates from being visible in your checkout if your business is closed for holidays, breaks, etc. Simply select the dates you wish to exclude, give a reason if needed and exclude those dates.
-
If a customer has already purchased an order on a date that you further exclude, that existing order will not change. You will need to reach out to the customer to reschedule their order or still fulfil their order as usual.
What your customers see
Once scheduled ordering is turned on:
At checkout, customers will be prompted to select a date (and time, if applicable) for their order.
This date appears on their order confirmation and your order admin area.
Handy tips
Communicate clearly: Add a message or banner to your site to let people know how scheduled ordering works. You can set a delivery/pickup message within store preferences: How to add delivery/pickup notes in the checkout
Think ahead: Update available dates for public holidays, closed periods, or special events.
Keep it tidy: Regularly check upcoming scheduled orders to prep in advance. You can download a list of all orders within a CSV file for a quick overview, too: How do I export a list of orders to CSV?
