At this stage, there isn’t a way to set up a coupon or discount code that completely removes the shipping cost. You can, however, create coupon codes for a specific dollar amount, which will be taken off the total order amount (that’s the product price plus shipping).
If your store has more than one shipping price based on location, this can be a bit trickier to manage.
A workaround using coupon codes
If you’d like to offer free shipping in certain situations (for example, to newsletter sign-ups), you could create different coupon codes that match your different shipping prices.
Here’s how this could work:
Create separate coupon codes for each shipping price (e.g. “FREESHIP5” for $5 shipping, “FREESHIP10” for $10 shipping).
When customers sign up or qualify for a code, ask for their address or postcode.
Send them the matching coupon code for their region.
This is a manual process, and there’s a chance it might not always match the correct shipping rate — especially if the customer sends the order to a different address (for example, as a gift). In those cases, the coupon might not fully cover the shipping cost, which could be confusing if it’s labelled as Free Shipping.
