You can lock in your domain name hosted with Rocketspark for up to 10 years, and the longer you renew, the more you save. This new multi-year discount applies to domain extensions like .nz, .com, .co.uk, .com.au and more, and helps you avoid future price increases while keeping your domain safe and sorted for years.
You don’t need to wait until your next renewal date either; you can jump in and extend it anytime. Here's how to do it:
- Log in to your Rocketspark Dashboard
- Navigate to the "Billing" section
- All of your domains hosted with Rocketspark will appear here.
Note, if your domain is not hosted with Rocketspark (e.g. 1stdomains), the domain will not appear in the billing section. - Choose the domain you wish to extend the renewal date for and click the dropdown.
Note, if there is no dropdown, your domain already has the max amount of years (max of 10 years of domain renewal in advance)
- Within the dropdown, select how many possible extra years you would like to extend this domain for (e.g 2 years, 4 years, 10 years) The more years, the bigger the discount!
-
Click Pay now and then confirm. The payment will be processed using your current billing card. You can update your card details in the Billing section if needed.
- Success! You’ll receive an invoice to your account admin or billing email. Your domain is now locked in for those extra years and will automatically renew at the set interval.
FAQs
Why is my domain not appearing in the billing section?
If your domain doesn’t show in the Billing area, it might not be hosted with Rocketspark. Domains registered elsewhere (e.g. 1stDomains, GoDaddy) won’t show here. You’ll need to manage renewals through that provider. Or, easily transfer the domain to Rocketspark for better management.
Can I do this even if my domain isn’t close to expiring?
Yes! You can add more years at any time—no need to wait until it’s about to expire. You won't be able to extend a domain for longer than 10 years, however, so if your domain already has 10 years of renewal, the option to extend further won't be possible just yet.
What’s the maximum number of years I can renew for?
You can renew up to 10 years in advance.
Will I still get renewal reminders?
If you’ve paid in advance for multiple years, you won’t receive reminders until the domain is getting close to its next renewal.
What happens if I transfer my domain later?
Any time you've paid for in advance will remain valid even if you transfer your domain away from Rocketspark (though we’ll be sad to see you go!).
Can I update my payment method before renewing?
Absolutely. Just head to the Billing section in your dashboard to update your credit card details before confirming the payment.
Why is there no dropdown for my domain?
That usually means your domain has already been renewed for the maximum term of 10 years. You’re all sorted for now!
Where can I find my domain invoice after renewing?
We’ll automatically email your invoice to the account admin email or the designated billing email. You can also find past invoices in the Billing section of your dashboard via "invoice history"
Does this affect my website or email hosting?
Not at all—this only changes the length of time your domain is registered. Your website and email setup remain exactly the same.
Can I renew multiple domains at once?
Each domain needs to be renewed separately, so you’ll need to follow the process for each one individually.
If I cancel my domain after renewing for multiple years, will I get a refund?
No, domain renewals are non-refundable. When you secure a multi-year term, it's locked in at the current price to protect you from future price increases. Rocketspark doesn’t receive refunds from InternetNZ (or other registrars), so once the renewal is complete, it’s locked in.
