Should I resize my images before I upload them so they are smaller?
Nope, there's no need. Rocketspark takes care of optimising the image sizes for you. There is no reason for you to reduce the sizes of your images before you upload as this will only reduce their resolution (quality), meaning that when viewed from the website they are more likely to appear blurry or pixelated. The only situation where it is necessary to reduce the size of your image is if it’s file size exceeds 20 MB, as Rocketspark is not able to accept image uploads with a size any larger than 20 MB. It will also drastically reduce the image quality if you resize the image in the editor to a size which is greater than what you uploaded.
Basically the larger the images you upload, the easier they are to work with inside the editor as it will give you a wider range possibilities in terms of image display; whether you want the image to appear large or small, Rocketspark will be able to adjust the file size to suit your needs as closely as possible, automatically.
Does Rocketspark automatically resize my images when I upload them?
Yes. Rocketspark will adjust your images’ height, width and file sizes optimally and automatically, according to how you customize them on your website. General rule of thumb for resizing the height/width of your images inside the Rocketspark editor is to make them no larger than what you originally uploaded. This is why it’s often a good idea to upload your images at a very large size so that you have plenty of size variation available to you.
Will my website become slow because of the sizes of the images?
No, not significantly. Rocketspark adjusts the image dimensions and compresses their file size as optimally as possible, so the file sizes are as small as they can be without the image losing its quality. This will reduce the loading time of the website to make a clean experience for the visitors.
