You can now hide a page from Google search results meaning customers cannot search or find a specific page when looking for your business. This is a good feature when creating landing pages and when you want to know that the only way someone could get to that page is direct ad campaign traffic and not organic SEO traffic.
To hide your page from Google you will first need to access Flint, Rocketspark's free SEO tools.
Hide Page from Google Searches
Once you have access to Flint, you'll be able to hide your page from Google Searches.
(To make this tour bigger, click the arrows on the right or zoom in)
- Go to your Rocketspark Dashboard and click on the Manage Pages section.
- In the SEO Column click the Pencil Icon on the page you want to hide from Google. If the Pencil Icon is not showing like the Home page in the example below, you will need to hover over the circle to allow the Pencil Icon to appear.
Once you click on the Pencil Icon it will take you to edit your page's SEO settings via Flint.
Note: If this is your first time accessing Flint you will first need to click on the Get Flint button and go through the setup steps in order to move onto point 3 below. Check out the Flint Help guide for further information on the setup process.
- Click on the 3 dots on the left-hand side of your SEO Settings window to open up 'More Options.'
- In the More Options view, you can now Toggle on (green) to Hide page from Google searches
NOTE: if you make this change to an existing page that is currently indexed by Google you will need to wait until Google has re-crawled your website (within 1-3 weeks) or ask Google to re-index/re-crawl your site via Google Search Console.
If you were wanting to remove a page from Google that has already been picked up, you can do this using the URL Removal Tool in Google Search Console. This Google help guide goes into more depth on how to use this: Removals Tool.
Why should I hide my page from Google?
- As mentioned above this is a good feature to use when creating landing pages on your website when you want to direct ad campaign traffic to the specific page and not organic SEO traffic to measure your Ad goals.
- Hiding your page from Google can also help if you are wanting customers to land on a specific page after filling out a form on your site. Sometimes you may not want Google to find this page, such as a pricing page but want customers to lead to this page once they have filled out their details on a form.
-
Another useful way for hiding your page on Google is if you have specific content that you want staff or eductors to find via a direct link but don't want everyone to see via a Google search.
