If you already have a Rocketspark online store with products set up, and you’re moving to Lightspeed (which used to be Vend), the connection process is a little different — this guide walks you through what to expect, what you need to do, and which parts our support team will take care of for you.
Before you start
This guide is for you if:
You already have a Rocketspark ecommerce website
Your products are already set up in Rocketspark
You’re new to Lightspeed and want to use it for inventory and in-store sales
If you already have a Lightspeed account, please check out our Lightspeed connection guide instead.
Step 1: Create your Lightspeed account
Before contacting us, you’ll need to:
Create your Lightspeed account
Connect Lightspeed to your Rocketspark website by following steps 1 and 2 in our main guide:
How do I link Lightspeed to Rocketspark?Come back to this guide and follow the next steps
Please note: When completing steps 1 and 2, do not add or import any products into Lightspeed.
Your products will be pushed across from Rocketspark later as a one-time sync, which we'll enable on our end.
Step 2: Contact the support team
Once your Lightspeed account is active, and Lightspeed is connected to your Rocketspark website (steps 1 and 2 completed), get in touch with our support team at support@rocketspark.com and let us know you’re ready to move your products across.
We’ll confirm everything is set up correctly before starting the product sync.
Step 3: We push your products to Lightspeed
Our team will then push your existing products from Rocketspark into Lightspeed, monitor the sync to make sure it completes successfully and make sure everything is ready for ongoing synchronisation
You don’t need to take any action during this step — we’ll let you know when it’s done.
Step 4: Finish your Lightspeed setup
After your products are in Lightspeed, we’ll guide you through any remaining setup, such as:
Checking product and inventory settings
Understanding how ongoing synchronisation works
Completing any final configuration in Lightspeed
How the Synchronisation Works
Now that your Lightspeed and Rocketspark accounts are linked (and your products have been imported), here’s a rundown of how synchronisation works — including what syncs, what doesn’t, and where you should make updates.
What product data syncs from Lightspeed to Rocketspark
The following product information is synced into Rocketspark:
Product title
Descriptions
Variations
Pricing
SKU codes
Product images (from Lightspeed)
Categories (created from Product Types in Lightspeed)
Tags
Brands
Stock levels
Products and updates
Lightspeed is your source of truth.
That means product changes should be made in Lightspeed, not Rocketspark.
Here’s what to expect:
Updates made in Lightspeed sync to Rocketspark (one-way).
Updates made in Rocketspark do not sync back to Lightspeed.New products added in Lightspeed will automatically appear in Rocketspark.
Products added in Rocketspark will not be added to Lightspeed.
If a product is marked Inactive in Lightspeed, it will be hidden in Rocketspark.
If a product is deleted in Lightspeed, it will stop syncing to Rocketspark.
You’ll need to remove or update it manually in Rocketspark if needed.
Product visibility in your online shop
In Rocketspark, Lightspeed products show as For sale or Hidden depending on your product status settings.
If your setting is Auto, products will only show as For sale when they have stock available in Lightspeed.
When stock reaches zero, the product will be hidden, and it will reappear once stock is replenished. If you have products you don’t want to sell online, set the product Status to Hidden in Rocketspark.
Selective tag syncing (optional)
If Tag Syncing is enabled, only products with the selected tag will sync from Lightspeed to Rocketspark. Lightspeed Tag Syncing Products
Web-only products
You can create products that are only sold on your website (and don’t sync to Lightspeed):
In your Rocketspark shop, click Add product
Fill in the product details
Switch the green Lightspeed Sync toggle off
If you delete a product in Rocketspark, it will not be deleted in Lightspeed.
Tags and filters
Tags imported from Lightspeed won’t automatically appear as filters in your online shop.
If you want tags to show in your shop’s filter list, you’ll need to enable them manually (see step 8 in this linked guide).
Product images
Rocketspark will try to import images from Lightspeed, but:
Lightspeed images won’t overwrite images you’ve uploaded directly to Rocketspark
Images uploaded to Rocketspark won’t sync back to Lightspeed
You can add additional images in Rocketspark as needed
Shipping rates for different products
To assign different shipping rates to different products, check our Setting up your Online Shop guide.
Sales and orders
Online orders placed through your Rocketspark store will appear in Lightspeed, under Lightspeed’s Sales History, and stock levels will adjust in Lightspeed.
(For this to work, you must complete “Step 2” in the Lightspeed settings in your Rocketspark Dashboard.)Sales made directly in Lightspeed won’t appear as orders in your Rocketspark Dashboard, but any resulting stock level changes will sync through to Rocketspark.
Special order line items in Lightspeed
For web-only products, shipping, and discounts, Lightspeed needs something to attach those line items to. We create special items in your Lightspeed account as needed — you may see:
Web-only sale
Shipping
Discount
Please leave these in place for best performance.
Lightspeed Loyalty
At the moment, Rocketspark doesn’t support syncing Lightspeed Loyalty credit from online orders.
