Subdomains are typically used when the domain needs to point to a different website from the main domain, whether this is to the same website or just a different page. Subdomains are something that you set up on an existing domain, this means that you don't need to register them as the main domain is already registered thus allowing you to host multiple sites under one domain.
A subdomain would look something along the lines of business.yourdomain.com. You can use any word that you would like before your domain name.
Enable SSL on a subdomain
To enable SSL on a subdomain, you need to make sure you have both the subdomain.domain.com and www.subdomain.domain.com pointing to Rocketspark. This is due to the extra validation that must take place to enable and renew the SSL certificate. For example, if your subdomain is trade.example.co.nz, then you also need to have an A record set up for www.trade.example.co.nz pointing to your Rocketspark site to make sure SSL enables ok.
Once you have both A records set up for your sub-domain please follow our guide here to enable SSL.
