It is not possible to transfer a domain for the first 5 - 60 days after it was first registered.
These regulations are set by domain regulatory bodies. This 5 - 60 day grace period cannot be overcome by Rocketspark and applies to any incoming or outgoing domain transfers.
If you have purchased a domain name recently and cannot transfer it through to Rocketspark, you can still get your website live at your domain. Please choose the Existing Domain option during the upgrade process. Enter your domain and click Next. You will have the option to continue using the Self Managed option. Learn more about the Self-managed option here. For information on how to change your domains DNS settings and name servers to set your website live you can follow our guide found here.
Once the 5 - 60 day grace period has expired you can then go ahead and transfer the domain through to Rocketspark from the Domain Manager in your Rocketspark Dashboard.
Here is a table displaying the grace periods on different top-level domains:
Domain TLD | Lock period after registering |
.nz | 5 days |
.au | N |
.uk | 60 days |
.za | N |
.org | 60 days |
.com | 60 days |
.net | 60 days |
Some registrars give you the option to lock your domain after a change has been made to the contact details. If you have a .nz domain, although this lock may be added to your domain it does not apply and can be overridden by the registrar.
