Flint is Rocketspark's SEO tool that uses AI to analyse your page content and suggest improvements to help your site rank better in Google. Flint attaches directly to a page, so if you want to remove it, the process involves copying the page, deleting the original, and setting up a redirect so any existing links keep working. This guide walks you through each step.
How to remove Flint SEO from a page
Because Flint attaches to the page itself rather than the URL, the only way to remove it is to create a fresh copy of the page (which won't have Flint attached), delete the original, and redirect the old URL to the new page.
Step 1 — Copy the page
Go to your Dashboard and click Manage Pages in the left-hand menu.
Find the page you want to remove Flint SEO from and click the copy icon in the Copy column on the right. You'll see a "Copying page..." message while the copy is being created. The new page will appear in your list with _copy added to its name.
Step 2 — Rename the pages
Click the pencil icon next to the copied page to open the "Edit page name" panel.
You will need to rename the Flint one something like 'Bowel Cancer - Flint' and then you can rename the copuing page to be 'Bowel Cancer".
Click Save. This keeps your menu and page naming consistent once the original is removed.
Step 3 — Set the new page online
Click the Online toggle next to the new page. A "Set page online" panel will appear — select Now, then click Set page online.
Step 4 — Delete the original page
Now that the new page is live, you can delete the original. Find the original page in your list and click the delete icon (bin) on the right.
⚠ Important: Complete Step 5 (adding the redirect) straight after this step. Once the original page is deleted, any links pointing to its URL — including internal links throughout your site — will return a "page not found" error until the redirect is in place.
Step 5 — Add a redirect from the old URL to the new page
This step ensures anyone visiting the original page's URL — whether through a link on your site, a Google result, or a bookmark — is automatically sent to the new page instead of hitting a dead end.
Click the URLs icon (the + icon in the URLs column) next to the new page. The "Add/edit alternate URLs" panel will open.
You'll see the new page's default URL at the top. In the Add/edit URLs field below, type the slug of the original page — the slug is the last part of the URL. For example, if the original page URL was yoursite.co.nz/bowel-cancer, type bowel-cancer into the field. Click Add URL, then Save.
Why is the redirect important?
When a page has been live on your site, its URL may be:
- Linked to from other pages within your website
- Indexed by Google and appearing in search results
- Saved in bookmarks or shared in emails and social posts
Without a redirect, all of those links will point to a deleted page and show visitors a "page not found" error. Adding the old URL as an alternate URL on the new page creates a redirect that keeps those links working and preserves any SEO authority the original page had built up.
Tips and things to watch out for
- Add the redirect immediately after deleting the original. The gap between deletion and redirect being saved is the only window where the old URL won't work, so move through Steps 4 and 5 quickly.
- The redirect goes on the new page, not the old one. Open the URLs icon on the new page and enter the old page's slug there.

The slug is just the last part of the URL. If your page was at
yoursite.co.nz/services/bowel-cancer, enterservices/bowel-cancer. - Check your internal links after the swap. While the redirect handles external traffic and Google, it's good practice to update any internal links on your site to point directly to the new page URL.
- Check your menu after the swap. If the original page appeared in your menu, confirm the new page is in the right position under Manage Pages.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I just edit the existing page to remove Flint? Flint attaches to the page itself, so there isn't a way to detach it from an existing page. Copying the page creates a clean version without Flint attached.
Will the new page keep all my content? Yes. Copying a page duplicates the content. You may want to check the SEO settings on the new page (click the SEO icon in Manage Pages) and update them manually now that Flint is no longer managing them.
What if I forget to add the redirect? You can still add it after the fact. Go to Manage Pages, click the URLs icon on the new page, and add the old slug as an alternate URL.
How long does it take for Google to pick up the redirect? The redirect works for visitors straight away. Google may take a few days to a few weeks to recrawl the old URL and recognise where it now points.
Can I use this process for multiple pages? Yes — repeat the steps for each page you want to remove Flint SEO from.
