If you currently have email accounts on your domain name and are wishing to transfer this domain to Rocketspark there are two options available.
Choose to keep your email hosting where it is currently.
This option ensures that there is no downtime in your email services. When transferring emails there is a period of time where your email accounts at Rocketspark will not be set up due to the transfer process of the domain.
If you are currently using Microsoft Hosted Exchange (Office 365) or Google Workspace for Business emails we would recommend you leave your email hosting where it is currently.
You will be self-managing your domain if leaving emails hosted elsewhere, if this is an issue please contact Rocketspark to discuss a possible domain transfer. As you will have different mail records for your current provider we cannot provide these for you as Rocketspark's mail DNS settings are different. You will have to update your DNS records to get your Rocketspark website live. We do have some guides which set out the DNS settings that need to be used. Once you have upgraded we will email you the correct next steps to follow.
Transfer your email hosting to Rocketspark
By deciding to transfer your email accounts to Rocketspark you will essentially be creating new Rocketspark hosted email accounts. These email accounts are an additional cost and will be newly created as empty IMAP inboxes at a 25GB storage capacity. You can find more about costs on the domains and emails page.
Rocketspark IMAP emails are basic email accounts for sending/receiving and folders, they do not provide Calendars or Contact syncing between devices like Microsoft Exchange (Office 365) or Google Apps for Business. If you're currently using these features, you might consider leaving your emails where they currently are.
If you would like to bring over the content from your current email inboxes you will need an I.T. person to do this or purchase an email migration from Rocketspark. Email migration is a technical procedure that we can do to copy the email folders you have from your old email accounts into your new ones using our advanced migration tools, this way you don’t lose any email history. This is a paid add-on service Rocketspark provides, prices are provided during the upgrade process.
When moving email hosting you will need to re-setup your email software on both phones and desktop computers on your end. As Rocketspark will be hosting the new email accounts some of the associated settings used on these devices will have to be changed on your end.
