Blogging is one of the most effective ways of drawing visitors to your website and we’ve written a number of articles on the importance of blogging. If you’ve created a lot of blogs on your old Wordpress site it can be very worthwhile bringing across your blog posts to your new Rocketspark site. We can also import your non-blog pages with a few caveats - please see below what we can import.
Wordpress has an export feature and with a little bit of fine tuning of your Wordpress website export, we can import all of your blog posts and blog post images into your Rocketspark website.
We’ll also review your Wordpress export and check for any spam or malicious content that may have been inserted into your site, and make sure this doesn’t get copied across to your Rocketspark website.
Costs
We will be able to confirm a price once we have been supplied with your Wordpress XML file. Wordpress websites are often highly customised and this can complicate the import process, however, generally, the pricing for a website blog import is as follows.
New Zealand clients: $280+GST (NZD)
Australian clients: $270 (no GST and in AUD)
United Kingdom clients: £140+VAT (GBP)
What content can be imported?
The import will bring across blog posts, and pages. Any images in the post content will be copied across providing the original Wordpress website is still online. The image files are not included in the XML file so once the Wordpress site goes down they cannot be imported.
Comments on blog posts are not able to be imported. You can use Disqus commenting with your Rocketspark blog.
Highly designed pages, such as homepages, don’t generally survive the import process well. However simple pages such as single-column blog posts generally import very nicely. Typically the non-blog pages will be imported into a single column and you will then need to manually layout these more complicated pages once they are in Rocketspark to get them looking correct. Due to the drag and drop nature of Rocketspark, it can be quite quick to rearrange your content but please allow some time for checking and correction after the import is done.
