This support guide describes how to configure your domain name to point to your Rocketspark website and email hosting if you have chosen to manage your own domain name during the upgrade of your website.
It is important that you understand the settings that you are changing. We recommend you first read our Can I manage my own domain name with Rocketspark? What settings do I use? guide if you haven't already.
How to change your DNS settings in your FreeParking account:
-
Log in to your account and go to the Services section.
-
Click on Manage for the domain name you wish to change the DNS records for.
-
Click on the Service Management tab and then click the Modify button under the Name Server Records section.
-
You will then see various sections for the common types of DNS records. “A” records, “CNAME” records, and “MX” records.
-
When you initially access the DNS editor you will see and be able to manage the 'Basic' DNS records. These are the IP Address ("A" Records), Alias ("CName" Records), and the Mail Servers ("MX" Records).
IP Address ("A" Record)
The IP Address ("A" Record) section allows you to manage and create 'A Records' which resolves your domain name or subdomains of your domain name to an IP address.
Please note that the Freeparking DNS editor requires any sub-domains to be in the format of subdomain.yourdomain.co.nz. For example 'www.mydomain.co.nz' in full.
You can find the correct DNS settings in the following support guide. Please make sure you use the correct DNS settings for your location.

To edit an existing A record, simply change the IP Address for the Host Name or Host Names as required.

To save, click the 'Continue' button at the bottom of the page, and on the next screen click the 'Finish' button.
Alias ("CName" Record)
