If you are hosting your domain with 1and1 will need to change your domain DNS settings at 1and1 Dashboard to point your domain to your Rocketspark website to get it live. This support guide describes how to configure your domain name to point to your Rocketspark website and email hosting if you have chosen to manage your own domain name during the upgrade of your website.
It is important that you understand the settings that you are changing. We recommend you first read our Can I manage my own domain name with Rocketspark? What settings do I use? guide if you haven't already.
How to change your DNS settings in your 1and1 account:
- Log in to your user account. www.1and1.com Click Manage Domains under the Domain panel.
- Click the arrow on the right hand side of the nameserver that you wish to change the DNS records for.
- Make sure that the Name Server Settings are set to 1&1 name servers to be able to change the DNS records. If this is not set to 1&1 then your DNS settings are setup on a different Name Server, we would advise that you contact 1&1 in this situation.
- Scroll down the page to the A records and click the other IP address option. Enter the relevant IP address. You can find the correct IP addresses to use by visiting our support guide here. The below screenshot shows the standard configuration for our UK server.
Continue on to the MX records click the other mail server option and enter the MX details.
Continue down the page to the TXT records. Click add record and enter the relevant TXT record.
Click save at the bottom right of the page and you have successfully updated the DNS records for your domain name. These changes usually take between 1-4 hours to propagate.
If you find that you are unable to make these changes yourself or needs further assistance, please contact the support team at 1and1. They will be able to make these changes for you.
